Hello friends! Long time no talk! I didn’t do an MPM last week since Sean and I was on vacation celebrating our 5 year anniversary. Now, this week I’m three days late! But hey, progress not perfection right?! I hope everyone is surviving the back to school season. I only have a preschooler so we aren’t in full-time school mode yet. Still, we’re taking stock of the next few months leading up to Christmas and really trying to prep now. That includes meal planning!
Facebook LIVE
I briefly mentioned in my Facebook Live this week that I’m going to push myself to not spend more than $100/week for the next 12 weeks. That will put us at the week of Thanksgiving and if I can save $60/week (as we budget $160/week for food), I’ll have an extra $720 by Black Friday. What what?!!
Imagine having an extra $720 to do Christmas shopping with all by just meal planning. Sure we might have to do a little extra work in the kitchen but honestly, it won’t be much. We’ll need to make a plan, stick to it and maybe eat a little less extravagantly. That’s totally doable for 12 weeks!

The Plan
Sunday: Sliders, sweet potato fries, and corn
Monday: Chicken Pasta
Tuesday: Creamy Tomato Basil Soup and Grilled Cheese
Wednesday: Chipotle Chili Mac
Thursday: Chile Rellenos
Friday: Pork, broccoli, and pierogies
Saturday: Leftovers/Out
What I Spent:
I spent $111.02 on my Sunday trip to Aldi and $2 at the Farmer’s Market the day before. Since we only spent around $75 the week before, I’m still on track with saving $60/week. Meal planning and sticking to my list means that if one week I go under budget, next week I can go a little over and it’s totally fine. We started using cash for grocery shopping a few months ago and I just keep it in an envelope so as the weeks roll over, so does the money.
Last Week Recap:
Welp, I started a new bullet journal about 3 weeks ago and I think I lost it at Aldi😢 Thankful I wasn’t 3 months deep into it but still, hate that I lost it. It might turn up, I have to stop by Aldi and see if it’s there. They actually don’t let you call the stores directly.
Anyways, I don’t remember what I planned last week but here’s what I captured in pictures: tacos, chicken & rice soup and ravioli & salad. I think we had leftovers twice and we went out once. Plus we weren’t home Sunday but the girls just had a frozen pizza.
That’s all I have for this week! I hope you guys find the new format more interesting and helpful if you’re grocery shopping on a budget. Check out last week’s MPM if you missed it! Come follow me on Facebook to keep up to date with my LIVE grocery hauls and my weekly #undomesticmomhacks
