Hello friends! How’d your week go? Mine was kinda crazy! My niece and nephew hung out with us last week and my other “niece and nephew” – my first babies that I used to nanny for, spent the weekend here. So it was basically Kidpalooza in the Undomestic Mom household:) We had a great time but I’m beat! Super happy my vacation is less than 3 weeks away. This week’s meal plan has a mix of classics and newbies.
It also features two soups, lol! I swear before I started doing MPM, I didn’t realize how much my family liked soup. No matter that it’s 95 degrees here, we’re chowing down on chicken gnocchi and corn chowder. Honestly, though, they are easy to make and the leftovers make great lunches. That’s the key to a successful meal plan, make what you like and make it easy!
Facebook LIVE
This week I wasn’t able to a LIVE grocery haul up on my Facebook page. I spread myself a little too thin and ran out of time. So instead I walked you guys through my meal plan and grocery shopping list. I’ll be back next week with our regularly scheduled programming:)
The Plan
Sunday: Steak mashed potatoes and grilled veggies
Monday: Crockpot Chicken & Rice, Broccoli
Tuesday: Chipotle Chicken Corn Chowder & Cornbread
Wednesday: Shepherd’s Pie
Thursday: Chicken Gnocchi Soup & Salad
Friday: Stromboli & Salad
Saturday: Leftovers/Out
What I Spent:
I spent $144.17 on my Sunday trip to Aldi but we also spent another $20ish at Jewel. I had to restock on a few staples and I got a few bulk items (i.e. 5 pounds of ground beef). We are currently budgeting $178/week for our family of four but as you guys see, we eat almost all of our meals at home. (I’ve added our “household goods” budget to this since I’m buying those items together. We still assume $160/week for food.) From my research, most families of four typically spend between $146-289/week so we’re definitely at the low end! We shop primarily at Aldi and I highly recommend it if you’re grocery shopping on a budget.
Last Week Recap:
I pretty much stick to the plan last week but I have little photographic evidence of that. Probably because it felt like a mad dash to get dinner on the table last week, I totally forgot to take pics. The pulled chicken turned out good but it was nothing to write home about. I’m going to revamp it a few more times before I get a recipe on the blog. The Ravioli Lasagna turned out super good this time because I added Italian sausage, I’ll definitely get that recipe up soon.
That’s all I have for this week! I hope you guys find the new format more interesting and helpful if you’re grocery shopping on a budget. Check out last week’s MPM if you missed it! Come follow me on Facebook to keep up to date with my LIVE grocery hauls and my weekly #undomesticmomhacks
