Happy fall ya’ll! FINALLY! I mean seriously, we all agreed that Fall is the best season right? Pretty sure I read that on BuzzFeed, the authority of our generation😂 This week’s meal plan has some yummy fall recipes. Well, it has Sausage and Saurkraut (a recipe I promise to get to you guys soon!) which is very Oktoberfest worthy but it also has quite a few vegetarian recipes.
When I released the $100 Aldi Meal Plan a few weeks ago I asked you guys what sort of meal plan I should do next and a lot of people asked for a vegetarian one! So I’m diligently working on recipes for it so you’ll be seeing a lot of them on the meal plan in the coming weeks. And I’ll still be keeping the grocery budget at $100/week!
Facebook LIVE
Check out what I bought this week on yesterday’s Live. I mentioned how I’m still going strong with saving $60 a week to put towards our Christmas budget and I now have $240 socked away!
This Week’s Plan
Sunday: Oktoberfest Feast! (Out)
Monday: Broccoli Cheese Potatoes
Tuesday: Tacos, beans
Wednesday: Tortellini Soup & Bread
Thursday: Bird Nests & Salad
Friday: Sausage & Saurkraut, broccoli & pierogies
Saturday: Leftovers
We went out to a super fun German restaurant and had ourselves a nice little Oktoberfest feast. They had live music and a tiny dance floor that Georgia loved busting a move on😁 Sean got his beloved Oktoberfest beer and it was a great family dinner.
Fun fact, with the help of my dear friend Adam, I brewed Sean an Oktoberfest beer for a wedding gift. Our nickname for each other is Bebs so I aptly named it Bebstoberfest. So it’s safe to say we like Oktoberfest in the Undomestic Mom house:)
As I mentioned, I’m testing out some recipes for the upcoming Vegetarian $100 Aldi Meal Plan so that’s why you see a lot of them this week. Bird Nests are a derivative of an old Rachael Ray but it’s pasta:)
What I Spent:
I spent $102.62 on my Sunday trip to Aldi. Which although it’s a few dollars over budget, I was under budget last week by about $21 so overall it’s fine. I also spent $4 at the Farmer’s Market on Wednesday and another $8 at the grocery store across the street from us. So in total, I have a current surplus of $6.
Still on track to save $720 by Black Friday though so that’s all that matters. Watch me Live on Wednesday where I’ll give a more in-depth explanation of how our $100/week grocery budget is going.
Last Week Recap:
Okay, so we had a few adjustments to the plan last week. First, I was gonna make stuffed peppers but I tried to par-cook the peppers in my Instant Pot and I put them on for too long so they got a little overcooked. They tasted great though so I went with it and turned it into a Stuffed Pepper casserole!
We were having some oven troubles last week, we needed a new ignitor, so I didn’t make the Breakfast Bubble Bake. Instead, I used the ingredients to make a scramble. Still just as tasty. (And my super smart husband actually fixed the oven himself with a part from Amazon so it’s all good now!)
Well, that about covers it for this week! I hope you guys find the new format more interesting and helpful if you’re grocery shopping on a budget. Check out last week’s MPM if you missed it! Come follow me on Facebook to keep up to date with my LIVE grocery hauls and my weekly #undomesticmomhacks
